Thank you for visiting the IBM
South Hants CC web site. We are a cricket club consisting of present and past IBM employees, but we are not a closed club as we have a large number of players with no link to IBM at all. The club runs one summer team as of
2019 - a Sunday Friendly Side whose main purpose is to enjoy the game and take in the best of the Hampshire and Sussex countryside and hospitality.
Sadly the
League side as it had existed since 1977, folded during the 2018 season. Home matches - Sunday friendly and midweek games - are played at New Place, Shirrell Heath under normal circumstances - an excellent
location to play (or watch) cricket. Once the long summer days are over our Indoor Team participates in the South East Hampshire (Fareham)
Indoor Cricket League at Fareham. When not playing cricket against other teams we organise winter indoor and summer outdoor nets (on
Wednesdays or Thursdays at New Place, May-August) and run a few social events such as golf days throughout the year.
The ethos of our club is one of enjoyment and we pride ourselves on the excellent retention rate of players
who join us (one or two even going back to the current club's predecessors - IBM Havant CC and IBM Cosham CC, alias IBM Portsmouth CC in the 1970s). We play all our matches competitively but always well
within the spirit of cricket and try to ensure that everyone gets an opportunity to participate in each game.
The club is always looking for players of all abilities, regardless of whether they are IBM employees or not
and you will be assured a warm welcome so, if you are interested and want to find out more, please contact Peter Croxson, the club chairman.
